The Luminary Method
Everything here rests on one belief: you have the power to change your life. Your mind, heart, and soul work together, and I want to give you every tool to help them do it.
Below are the five practices, what you will actually do, and the research that explains why each one is here.
Regulate
Calm the stress response so your body can recover and adapt.
What you do
Short daily breathwork, practices that tone the vagus nerve, a consistent sleep and wake rhythm, and real rest built into your week.
Why it works
Slow, paced breathing reliably raises heart rate variability, a marker of how flexibly your nervous system handles stress. In a 2023 Stanford study, five minutes a day of breathing with long exhales improved mood and lowered resting breathing rate more than mindfulness meditation did. Regular sleep and wake times support the daily rhythm your stress hormones follow.

Move
Progressive, science-backed training that meets you where you are.
What you do
You begin with walking, breath, and pre-Pilates fundamentals for the deep core and spine. Mat Pilates follows. Then resistance training and cardiovascular work are layered in, each step built on the one before and adapted for any injuries.
Why it works
The World Health Organization recommends 150 to 300 minutes of moderate activity each week, plus muscle strengthening on two or more days. Strength is built through progressive overload, adding challenge gradually as your body adapts, which is also how we keep injury risk low. Walking is a powerful place to start. In a large pooled analysis, more daily steps were linked to a lower risk of death, leveling off around 8,000 to 10,000 steps for adults under 60.

Nourish
Everyday habits that quietly change everything.
What you do
Learn how to eat for steady energy and strength, with protein and fiber-rich whole foods and no restriction. Spend time outside, walk daily, and add easy spinal movement into ordinary moments.
Why it works
In a study of nearly 20,000 adults, people who spent at least two hours a week in nature were more likely to report good health and high wellbeing than those who spent none. Adequate protein supports the strength you are building in training.

Nutrition at Luminary Collective is education. Individualized meal planning will be offered through a registered dietitian as our care team grows.
Rewire
Stay present, intentional, and true to who you are.
What you do
A morning and evening practice in the Awakening Journal. You set clear intentions, notice your patterns, and practice thinking in a way that builds you up. Each entry builds on the last.
Why it works
Turning a goal into a specific plan for when, where, and how you will act reliably improves follow-through. New habits also take time. In one study, it took a median of 66 days for a new behavior to feel automatic, which is why this is a daily practice rather than a one-time exercise.

Belong
Depth, faith, and purpose, shared with others.
What you do
Gather with other members for movement, fellowship, prayer, and praise. Over time, serve our community together through volunteer partnerships.
Why it works
Across 148 studies, people with stronger social relationships had a 50 percent greater likelihood of survival over the study periods. In a study following more than 74,000 women, those who attended religious services more than once a week had a meaningfully lower risk of death than those who never attended. We were made to do this together.

Research describes averages and associations, not promises. I share it so you know why each practice is part of your plan.
Root, Rise, Radiate
Your path moves through three phases. Each one builds on the last, and we reassess before you move forward.
Root
Weeks 1 to 6
Foundations. Breath, deep core, walking, sleep, nourishment, and the daily journal.
Rise
Monthly after Root
Building capacity. Progressive strength training, cardiovascular fitness, and deeper mindset work.
Radiate
Ongoing
Living it. Confidence in your own practice, leadership in the community, and service.
Inside the Root program
- Breath and the deep coreDiaphragmatic breathing, inner core activation, pre-Pilates fundamentals, and a daily walk.
- Spine, light, and sleepSpinal mobility, morning daylight, and a consistent sleep and wake rhythm.
- NourishEating for energy, protein and fiber, and your first Mat Pilates sessions.
- Body awarenessBalance and control, slow breathing for heart rate variability, and Mat Pilates progressions.
- Strength and heartResistance training and aerobic conditioning begin, along with the long-exhale breath reset.
- IntegrationReassessment, building your own daily rhythm, and your plan for Rise.
Your assessment
One foundation, adjusted for you. Before you begin, we gather what we need to shape your plan.
Health and safety
Health history and a standard exercise readiness screen. If anything calls for a doctor's clearance, we get it first.
Injuries and pain
Where your body needs care, so every movement is modified from day one.
Your life
Your schedule, where you can train, and how much time you realistically have.
Your focus
Choose up to two areas to emphasize: strength and body composition, pain relief, mobility, stress and mental wellbeing, mindset, or consistency.
Your baseline
Short, well-established wellbeing and stress questionnaires and simple movement checks, repeated at the end of each phase so you can see your progress.
If you would like a gentler, trauma-informed pace, you can choose it at any time. Your movement and breathwork will be adjusted to feel safe and within your control.
What this is, and what it is not.
Luminary Collective offers coaching and education. It is not medical care, therapy, or a substitute for either. If something in your assessment or our work together calls for a physician, therapist, or other licensed professional, I will tell you honestly and help you find one.
As our care team grows, members will have access to licensed professionals within the collective.
